What We Do

At Great Expectations, we provide reliable information, guidance, and support for new and expectant parents in Garfield, Pitkin, and western Eagle counties. Our programs are free and available to all.

Our caring team of family visitors will talk with you about how to care for your baby—and yourself. We’ll walk you through a wide range of topics, including:

  • How to participate in healthy prenatal care
  • How to develop a birth plan
  • What to expect during labor and delivery
  • How to build a healthy bond with your baby
  • How to make your home a safe place for your baby to live and play
  • How to promote your child’s growth and development
  • Where to find health care, child care, housing, and other support services in our community
  • How to continue your education and job training
  • How to set goals for your family’s future and find ways to reach them

We also host parent support groups, which are free and open to all (refreshments and child care included!). Our facilitators will help you learn from other parents in a safe, supportive environment.
